Author Biography

   Betsy Maestro was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 5, 1944.  She received a Bachelor of Arts and then a Master's of Science in Elementary Guidance from Southern Connecticut State College.  Maestro taught Kindergarten for eleven years.  Her second husband, Guilio Maestro, is a writer and illustrator of children's books.  Together they have published over thirty books. Maestro enjoys doing author visits.
    The author is best known for her nonfiction picture books.  "Traffic" was an ALA Notable Book in 1981, as was "A More Perfect Union" in 1987.
