Full Text Reviews:

School Library Journal - 12/01/1996 Gr 4-7-Each lavishly illustrated double-page spread in this volume addresses either a different religion or a significant facet of a religion. Egyptian, Greek, Primitive, Hindu, Buddhist, Confucian, Taoist, Jainist, Sikh, Zoroastrian, Judaic, Christian, and Islamic faiths are included. The essence of each belief is stated clearly in an introductory paragraph. The remaining text consists of comprehensive, elucidative captions for the eye-catching, full-color photographs, drawings, and reproductions of paintings clustered on the pages. The variety in size and arrangement of the pictures and type sizes creates a dynamic and absorbing format, lit by the reds and golds of the sacred objects, which should turn browsers into readers. The information given is accurate and unbiased. Altogether, this is a superb, succinct overview of the founders, tenets, and ways of worship of the world's major religions.-Patricia Pearl Dole, formerly at First Presbyterian School, Martinsville, VA - Copyright 1996 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
