Six programs commended for support of school libraries

CHICAGO — Moving on recommendations made by its Affiliate Assembly, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) formally commended six programs based on the programs’ support of the school librarian profession. To be considered, programs must align with AASL’s learning standards and program guidelines as well as the principles expressed in the AASL mission and value statements.

“The AASL Affiliate Assembly, made up of two representatives from each state, brings exemplary programs to the attention of the AASL Board of Directors each year,” said Terri Grief, AASL president. “We are so pleased to commend these excellent initiatives that encourage reading, promote college and career readiness and facilitate partnerships with schools, librarians and students.”
