Author Biography

   Holly Meade earned a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. She worked as an art teacher, graphic artist, and flag designer. She had her own gallery/studio in her home. In the gallery, are framed and unframed woodblock prints, original illustrations, cards and the children's books Meade has illustrated. Meade was also involved in The Healing Poster, a charitable organization that supports cancer patients. She enjoyed biking and cross-country skiiing in her spare time.
   Meade received a Caldecott Honor in 1997 for Hush. She died June 28, 2013.
