Author Biography

    Chris K. Soentpiet (pronounced soon peet) was born January 3, 1970 in Seoul, Korea.  At a young age he was adopted by a Dutch-American family in the United States.  He graduated from the Pratt Institute.  The author is married to Rosanna.  
    Soentpiet is best known as an illustrator of picture books. "More Than Anything Else" was an 1996 ALA Notable Book and an IRA Book of the Year, as was "Molly Bannaky" in 2000. "Peacebound Trains" was an IRA Best Book in 1996.  "Momma, Where Are You From?" was a 2000 Golden Kite Honor Book.  "Last Dragon," "More Than Anything Else," "Peacebound Trains," "So Far From the Sea" and "Something Beautiful" were all Notable Social Studies Trade Books.  He enjoys author visits.
