He died on October 26, 2006 in Laguna Beach, California. At 13 he was covering local sports for the Portsmouth, VA Evening Star newspaper. He left home at 17 to be a copy boy at the Washington D.C. Daily News. Taylor served in World War II and also in the Korean War. Taylor is best known for his young adult novels, although he also wrote short stories and screenplays. "The Weirdo" won the 1992 Edgar Allen Poe Award. "The Bomb" won the 1996 Scott O'Dell Award. Updating Results ...
