Author Biography

    Donald J. Sobol was born October 4, 1924 in New York City. Sobol died July 11, 2012.  He attended Oberlin College and served in World War II.  Sobol was a writer for numerous "pulp" magazines and for newspapers such as the New York Sun and the Long Island Daily Press.  The author and his wife, Rose, had four children, Diane, Glenn, Eric and John.  They enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing, camping and tennis.
    Sobol wass known for writing biographies, histories and mysteries, particularly the Encyclopedia Brown series.  Encyclopedia Brown was rejected by twenty-six publishers before it was first published in 1963, but it has been in print ever since.
