Author Biography

   Elvira Woodruff was born June 19, 1951 in Raritan, New Jersey.  She attended Adelphi University and Boston University.  Woodruff worked as a janitor, gardener, receptionist and ice cream truck driver.  She didn't begin seriously writing until the age of thirty-five.  The author is divorced and she is the mother of two boys.  Woodruff likes to garden and travel.  She also enjoys author visits.
   The author is best known for her picture books and historical fiction.  Her books often appear on state children's choice lists.
