Jacob Grimm Birthplace: Hanau, Germany Author Biography Jacob Grimm was born in Hanau, Germany in 1785. He studied law at Marburg University. Grimm was the eldest of six children and he had to raise his younger siblings after he left university. Grimm worked most of his life as a librarian. In 1848 he was elected to the first German Parliament. His full name was Jacob Ludwig Carl Grimm. Grimm is best known for collecting old German folktales into Grimm's Fairy Tales.
