Author Biography

   Ursula K. Le Guin was born in Berkeley, California on October 21, 1929. Ms. Le Guin died January 22, 2018. Her father, Alfred Kroeber, was a well-known anthropologist and her mother, Theodora, was a writer. She attended Radcliffe College and Columbia University. Le Guin worked as a French teacher. She married to Charles A. Le Guin and  had three children and three grandchildren.
   Le Guin will be remembered for her works of science fiction and fantasy. "Wizard of Earthsea" was a Boston Globe-Horn Book Fiction Award Winner in 1969. "The Tombs of Atuan" was a Newbery Honor Book in 1972. "Very Far Away From Anywhere Else" was an ALA Notable Children's Book and a Best Book for Young Adults in 1976. The author received the Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement in 2004.
