Paul Zindel Birthplace: Staten Island, NY USA Author Biography Paul Zindel was born on May 15, 1936 on Staten Island, New York. He was educated at Wagner College on Staten Island. Zindel worked for ten years as a high school chemistry teacher. Zindel also worked as a newspaper delivery boy, a waiter, a bartender, a dance instructor, and as a chimney sweep. The author had two children, David and Lizabeth. His hobbies included swimming, tennis working with plants, hiking, fishing and travel. Zindel was best known for writing novels and books for young adults. His "The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds" was a Pulitzer Prize winning play. The author received the Margaret A.
