Jamie Gilson was born July 4, 1933 in Beardstown, Illinois. She was educated at Northwestern University. Gilson has worked as a teacher, writing commercials and films, and as a columnist. At one time she wanted to be an actress. The author and her husband, Jerome, are the parents of three children, Tom, Anne, and Matthew. Gilson is best known for writing humorous novels for children.
