Author Biography

     Sherry Garland was born on July 24, 1948 in McAllen, Texas. Growing up, the author's family was very poor and she moved frequently. Shy, she didn't make friends easily and often felt like an outsider, spending time alone in the woods playing. These same characteristics can be found in many of the characters in her novels. Garland was educated at the University of Texas at Arlington. She has worked as a librarian and secretary. 
     Best known for her novels and nonfiction, Garland has written over twenty-five books for children, teenagers and adults.
