Booklist - 04/01/2016 What do a honeycomb, a soccer ball, and a turtle shell all have in common? Hexagons! This title in the Shapes Are Fun! series introduces early readers (and even prereaders) to this six-sided shape. After first defining and showing what a hexagon is, the text exclaims, “This shape is found all over!” and sets off to illustrate the point through crisp, high-quality photos. Two-page spreads consist of a full-page picture on the right and two short sentences on the left, set against a clean, white background. Whether of a glass ceiling or a cluster of pencils, every photo sports a hexagon in the wild, helpfully outlined with a thick, colorful border. A final illustration invites readers to count the hexagons in an assortment of crackers. A solid series for basic concepts. - Copyright 2016 Booklist.
