Booklist - 11/01/2019 When readers left twins Cameron and Cass in The Hotel Between (2018), they were learning the hotel’s secrets and the whereabouts of their parents. Now their father has returned to them, and they are grappling with the complicated emotions that this brings. Adding to an already fraught situation is the stress Cam feels over being named Concierge-in-Training, especially as a huge party is scheduled to be held at the hotel. He struggles to remain in control, but more and more things are going wrong. Furthermore, Cass has used magic to enhance her wheelchair and is becoming a sassy thorn in his side. When Cam thinks he sees his missing friend Nico hanging around, he begins to wonder if Nico is behind the catastrophic events. Or, could it be the awful Mr. Stripe? Easley jumps right into this action-packed fantasy sequel, offering little background from the first book and more than a few plot holes. That said, his larger-than-life characters—both good and evil—are full-blown; his multiple settings are imaginative; and the thickening plot leaves loose ends beckoning for further adventures. - Copyright 2019 Booklist.
