Booklist - 01/01/2015 A little boy ponders the fact that while nobody’s perfect, that’s perfectly acceptable. He thinks about his sister, his best friend, and his mom, all of whom have problems, though at the end of the day, they are “perfect enough for me.” Loose drawings, full of scribbly pencil lines, busy up the surface and have an unfinished look: just as the boy is a work in progress, so is his world, exuberant with color and frenzied detail. Elliott matches Zuppardi by showing, through simple prose, how people have more than one side—even strict Mom softens up in the end while watching her kids go nuts at a park. In a further nice touch, the endpapers are full of doodles of the people and things that make up the boy’s world. In this era of striving for parental perfection, the idea that imperfections are no reason to despair is a pretty good theme for a picture book and should be appreciated by both reader and listener alike. - Copyright 2015 Booklist.
