School Library Journal - 05/01/2019 Gr 3–5—As readers learn about advances in artificial intelligence (AI), the corresponding app for this series offers access to video clips showing AI demonstrations in various fields. For instance, one clip showcases the technological advancements of virtual reality in video games. Books in the series cover AI in a variety of uses from entertainment to retail service. Vocabulary terms are conveniently defined in small text boxes at the bottom of the page, as well as in the glossary. Captions and additional fact boxes add more detail, while photos show developers working on improvements or situations where AI is used. Readers will enjoy images of robotic soccer teams, restaurants with robot waiters, and NASA's Valkyrie robonaut. Some of the video clips are a bit advanced but would create opportunities for class discussions. VERDICT A helpful addition to the technology section, and a good fit for schools with 1:1 devices where the app can be used to its best advantage. - Copyright 2019 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
