Full Text Reviews:

Booklist - 09/15/2016 Cassie and Asher are in search of the Spear of Destiny, which is bonded to Cassie and must be found in order for her to prevent a cataclysmic event. However, because of the spear’s power to change the future, others are after it as well, and they’re willing to sacrifice anyone who gets in their way of claiming it. Riddles, codes, and nonstop action will make this sequel to Moving Target (2015) popular with readers who enjoyed the first novel. Each book can be read on its own, although reading them in order gives the full picture. Treacherous best friend Simone is back, opening the way for discussions about trust, forgiveness, and friendships, and family secrets are revealed that enrich and complicate the plot. On the down side, Gonzalez fails to fully capitalize on the family twist, and wraps up the story a bit too neatly. Fans will also overlook occasional repetition and didacticism. Try both books with those who like Joe Craig’s Jimmy Coates series or, perhaps, Rick Riordan’s Heroes of Olympus novels. - Copyright 2016 Booklist.
