  | Full Text Reviews: School Library Journal - 01/01/2013 Gr 5–9—Fans of the series will be clamoring for this action-packed installment, which begins with an explosion and seldom slows down from there. Will, Chester, and Elliott continue to fight the Styx, a malevolent subterranean race that plots the destruction of the "Topsoilers." The Styx have instituted "the Phase," in which they will use humans as incubators for eggs-destroying the humans involved and unleashing powerful killers on the rest of the population. Uncertainty plagues Will's crew as loyalties may be shifting.
