Booklist - 08/01/2018 Fresh off of The Matchstick Castle? (2017), Graff creates another memorable setting in Brunhild Tower, a suspicious-looking, Roaring Twenties–era building in Chicago. Twelve-year-old twins Colm and Mal, having lost their father two years ago, have just moved there from Dallas with their mom, who has accepted a job from another tower resident, Professor Parker. Here’s a quirk: the old building doesn’t have a thirteenth floor. Or does it? The twins soon learn that, between one and two o’clock, the floor suddenly exists, creating a phantasmagorical doorway to an alternate tower packed with ghosts from the past, including the gregarious Teddy, who’s either 12 or 97, depending how you look at it. With bookish new friend Tamika, the twins set out to discover why this alternate dimension exists, how the professor is involved, and what’s up with a strange old lady known as the Princess. - Copyright 2018 Booklist.
