School Library Journal - 07/01/2017 K-Gr 3—Did you know that snails have teeth or that dental floss is essential for a healthy mouth? Packed with facts and light trivia, this is an accessible resource for all things related to teeth. The first section concerns animals and their pearly whites: how they use them for survival or have adapted them for specific purposes (walruses use theirs for ice picks). Pets' teeth are also discussed, since they need regular checkups at the veterinarian. The rest of the volume informs kids about everything they've ever wanted to know about their own choppers, including what happens at the dentist's office. Sections on how teeth help with speech and the difference between primary and permanent teeth are enlightening and relevant to the audience. The book also addresses dental hygiene and what kinds of foods to eat (or avoid!) to keep teeth strong. VERDICT Great for kids who may be nervous about visiting the dentist or who just want to know more about teeth.—Kristin Anderson, Bloomingdale Public Library, IL - Copyright 2017 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
