School Library Journal - 05/01/2019 Gr 3–5—Who let the dogs in? Readers will be thrilled to find this informative series. From working dogs to dogs at play, the raw athleticism of canine companions is highlighted in each title. Readers will quickly come to understand the countless hours of training required to get dogs to their peak performance levels. Some breeds are better for certain jobs than others. German shepherds, for instance, are better suited to K9 police and military jobs than pugs. The authors note the skills of each breed, plus how trainers give the pooches a paw up when it comes to perfecting their roles. While the natural instincts and amazing brain power of the dogs are noted, each author explains the important role humans play in training their furry friends. VERDICT These titles could find a home either with books about dogs or in your sports section; you won't regret adding this series to your team. - Copyright 2019 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
