Full Text Reviews:

Booklist - 03/15/2018 As promised, this A Look at Life Cycles series installment (6 titles) presents major stages of mammals’ lives, from conception to adulthood. Since this category of animal includes a vast array of creatures, on land and in the water, the text approaches its topic very generally, calling attention to common characteristics and indicating when these only apply to most mammals, as in the case of live births. Chapters run two-to four-pages long, with each spread consisting of one page of text and one of illustration, most often a good quality animal photo or life-cycle infographic. The book’s latter chapters are devoted to marsupials and monotremes, with a separate life cycle graphic provided for each, making their differences easy to understand. A light but educational introduction to mammal life cycles. - Copyright 2018 Booklist.

School Library Journal - 04/01/2018 Gr 2–5—The focus of this series is the life cycle of vertebrates and insects. Each title opens with a physical description of the creatures being discussed, followed by a description of the habitat where many live. Reproduction and the various stages of life are covered, with a focus on a few particular species. In each book, straightforward text (with a few key word, in bold) sits opposite an eye-catching stock photograph. The text-filled pages also have leaf-shaped fact boxes, "Make the Grade," which contain notable tidbits of information despite the unfortunate heading. VERDICT A solid introduction to life cycles for elementary students. - Copyright 2018 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
