Full Text Reviews:

Booklist - 05/15/2014 If there were any doubt why dogs are considered man’s best friend, look no further than the Dog Heroes series. Each title begins with attention-grabbing stories of a dog that risked its life to help humans. Lifeguard Dogs centers on Mas, a Newfoundland working in Italy as a water rescue dog. He can pull people—and even boats—to safety. Packed with photos of dogs in action, this title describes the specialized training and equipment required, such as jumping out of helicopters. The texts also examine the physical and personality traits that are needed, while a visual identifies common breeds that exemplify these traits. Other back matter includes interesting facts, a glossary, and related resources. It’s readers who are the lucky dogs with this adorable and adventurous series. - Copyright 2014 Booklist.

School Library Journal - 02/01/2015 Gr 2–5—Dog books are winners in any library. Though these new additions tread familiar ground—the unusual and helpful contributions that man's best friend makes—animal lovers will "ooh" and "ahh" over these tales. R.E.A.D. Dogs (about canines who bolster struggling readers' confidence by sitting with them) will be a particularly sure bet in most libraries. Serviceable options for pet and animal collections. - Copyright 2015 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
