Booklist - 10/15/2016 In this exciting sci-fi sequel to Secrets of Bearhaven (2016), Spencer, 11, runs away from the secret bear sanctuary that’s been sheltering him, inadvertently causing his talking-bear friend Kate to be kidnapped. He and other bear friends must rescue Kate from Moon Farm, the country’s biggest black market bear-trading operation. Bears are held there in horrific conditions before being secretly sold. Despite the far-fetched premise that the bears’ language can be translated into English through a communication link, this illustrated action-packed adventure imparts factual information about bear behavior and appealingly explores interspecies friendship and the meaning of family. Fans of the first installment will appreciate this return to Bearhaven. - Copyright 2016 Booklist.
