Booklist - 11/15/2016 In this sequel to Quinny and Hopper (2014), the titular pals’ friendship remains solid, but their lives are no less fraught with authentic problems. In alternating first-person narration, cautious Hopper faces a tonsillectomy, and Quinny struggles to help him feel better while facing her own problems. She misses a thrilling field trip due to lice; endures a giant meanie sub who insists on calling her Eleanor and does not tolerate fidgeting; and must choose between Hopper and sometimes-mean, sometimes-nice Victoria and her amazing party. Not to mention the how-to speech at school: her teacher vetoes “How to Get My Sister Piper to Stop Peeing Her Pants at Night”; Victoria steals “How to Raise Chickens in Your Backyard”; and the sub forbids her from working with Hopper on “How to Have Your Tonsils Out without Freaking Out.” With its balanced mix of humor, emotions, and well-crafted characters living in imperfect but loving families, the Quinny and Hopper series has the qualities of an enduring favorite. - Copyright 2016 Booklist.
