Booklist - 04/01/2017 Set in 1826, this chapter book opens with a macabre physician purging 11-year-old Ada’s “fevered blood” with leeches, but nothing keeps this feisty heroine down for long. Soon she and her compatriots take on a new case: helping paleontologist Mary Anning after her beloved dog is kidnapped. Ada saves the day after thwarting her autocratic, aristocratic grandmother as well as a mysterious rival. Given Ada’s tendency not to tell all she knows, readers may find the story confusing at times, but never less than entertaining. Appended notes comment on the period setting and characters. The third alternate-history adventure in the Wollstonecraft Detective Agency series. - Copyright 2017 Booklist.
