Booklist - 05/15/2017 Sharing may be as difficult for dogs as it can be for humans. Frankie enters his new home expecting to be the one and only pet in the house. When he finds a red polka-dotted ball, he’s surprised to learn it belongs to the resident dog, Nico. Then the bone he finds turns out to be Nico’s bone. The stuffed puppy toy? Nico’s. The rope toy? Nico’s. The blanket? The bed? Also Nico’s. (It’s Nico himself who repeatedly points out his possessions in speech bubbles.) Poor Frankie is desolate until, after he spends a naughty interlude destroying the house, he sees that his owners have purchased a complete set of toys, blankie, and bed just for him. On the last page, the two dogs frolic in delight as they share each other’s toys with big smiles. Frankie is a little white dog with an always active tail and long brown ears. Nico is a much larger brown dog with short stubby legs. The humorous digital illustrations contrast the two active personalities with expressive humor, and children will see that it’s more fun to share. - Copyright 2017 Booklist.
