Booklist - 05/15/2018 In this sequel to Brown’s Pennybaker School Is Headed for Disaster (2017), an insufferable sub spurs Thomas and Chip to investigate what happened to Mr. Faboo, their real history teacher. While they chase clues, bizarre events result in pain (for Thomas), humiliation (also for Thomas), and hilarity (for readers) before this intrepid duo solves the mystery. Black-and-white illustrations, not seen in final form, capture the tone of the action-packed text. Subplots abound, from misunderstandings that undermine the boys’ friendship to tensions over Granny’s new hobby, demolition derby, but Brown pulls all the story’s elements together nicely in Thomas’ wacky, engaging first-person narrative. - Copyright 2018 Booklist.
