Publishers Weekly - 05/11/2026 This laugh-out-loud chapter book, a series launch from Arnaldo (Sheep & Goat Climb the World), follows young brontosaurus Cobble as he journals his experiences since a famous dinosaur-ending asteroid rendered him a ghost. He’s had multiple millennia to "pick up on some things," including a list of Ghost Rules, some of which work in his favor. Courtesy of rule #15, "A ghost cannot be seen or heard by living creatures," Cobble frolics around town unseen, along the way visiting white-cued seven-year-old human Kevin, who puts ketchup on everything, edible or otherwise. The condiment proves an unhealthy diet for Kevin’s new goldfish Bonny, who soon becomes a ghost. When Kevin’s parents use Bonny’s presumably empty bowl to house a tarantula, rule #47-"A ghost must spend their afterlife where they spent their life"-means Bonny must share the tight quarters with the arachnid. A madcap series of events, sprinkled with jovial friendship moments, sees the tarantula evicted as Bonny and Cobble seek to rehome Bonny in the ocean. Bouncy text traces Cobble’s diary entries, which include simple yet animated b&w illustrations. The result is a sprightly and offbeat excursion. Back matter includes questions and activities.
