Booklist - 10/01/2025 Bonjour! Kids receive a warm welcome to the French language in this well-organized primer. Rather than packing pages with vocabulary, the book presents scenes at a stated locale (e.g., home, school, the pool) on double-page spreads that feature a large photo with French labels, two sentences in English that incorporate two to three words in French, and a “Words to Know” box with more French words and phrases related to the scene at hand; this box features pronunciation guides and definitions. The structure and limited vocabulary create a nice way for readers to dip a toe into learning another language without getting overwhelmed.
