School Library Journal - 11/01/2025 K-Gr 2—In this series, which supports color-recognition skills and sharpens visual discrimination, easy reading is facilitated by brief sentences, predictable sentence structures, repeated text-picture patterns, and common phonemes. Items bearing the target color, (clothing, food items, signage, toys,) appear with text set against pages saturated with that same color. A diverse cast of children are depicted in the illustrations, and the covers feature objects and typefaces that are bold and inviting. A lively quiz at the end of each volume challenges readers to look at four pictures and choose two featuring the titular color. VERDICT This is a very fine concept series and an easy entrée to first reading experiences.
