Booklist - 10/01/2025 If you think big machines only work on land, guess again. This selection from the Ships Ahoy! series (6 titles) gives youngsters the scoop on dredgers. Whether cruising on a barge or floating on a platform, these massive dirt movers can clear waterways and assist in underwater mining. This level 2 reader uses a nice mix of clearly written sentences, colorful layouts, photos of dredgers at work, and close-up photos and colorful diagrams to show specific parts of these machines and how they function. Kids will encounter a variety of dredgers (bucket ladder, dipper, water injector, cutter suction) slowly chugging along on the water as well as different workers who keep them running.
