School Library Journal - 05/01/2026 Toddler-Gr 2—Gholz adds to her collection of funny rhyming books for beginning readers. Her latest is the story of Duck, who drives a truck and gets stuck in the muck. Lucky for Duck, he has lots of friends who want to help. Everyone gets very muddy trying to get the truck unstuck, and, ultimately, Duck comes up with a new plan—a muck pile party. As with many picture books, the artwork is an integral part of the story, filling holes in the simple rhyming text with action-filled and drama-packed scenes of animals stuck in the mud. Beginning readers will love this hilarious story, and fans of Gholz's previous works will be delighted to find some of the characters from her other books making cameo appearances in this new work. VERDICT A quick and comic rhyming picture book that will be a solid choice for any library, but where there are fans of Gholz, it's a must.—Debbie Tanner - Copyright 2026 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
