Booklist - 07/01/2025 From the writer of the super popular series The Apothecary Diaries comes a fresh new series. Nagi's family shrine has fallen on hard times since the death of her grandmother, the former god or himiko of the shrine. Nagi supposedly has no powers of her own, and with a shut-in himiko brother who isn't strong enough to step up, things look pretty bleak. That is, until Nagi unwittingly shows incredible powers while saving a young boy and catches the attention of a high-level himiko! Suddenly, she's off to god school, but she has no idea what her powers are or how to use them! This entertaining and engaging coming-of-age story blending humor with a little dash of romance is quite a bit different from Hyuuga's previous hit, but it still has the core ingredients that will grab and entice her core fanbase: a strong female lead, a slow-burn romance, friendships built through sincerity, and a dash of action and mystery.
