School Library Journal - 03/20/2026 Gr 2–4—The StEvEn & Parker YouTube channel, created in 2012, currently has 3.35 million subscribers. Steven, stylized as StEvEn, is a rambunctious eight-year old given to tantrums who has an abiding devotion to stuffed dinosaurs. Older brother Parker seems to be on his own in raising Steven and in trying to manage him. This concept could make for a fine chapter book graphic novel, and yet, the book doesn't manage to escape its video roots. Studio-produced art looks static on the page, and readers may grow tired of the seemingly endless drama Steven invests in a lost dino toy he's found at the fair. Parker's girlfriend also makes an appearance, serving as a third character for them to interact with. Librarians may want to check out the YouTube version to determine if their readership would welcome this as a viewing suggestion or graphic novel. Brothers and girlfriend are white; there is some diversity with background characters. VERDICT Recommended for collections with an established fanbase of the YouTube channel.
