Booklist - 10/15/2024 This authorized manga biography follows the life of Charles Schulz from his birth in Minnesota, his service in the army during WWII, his beginning career as a cartoonist, and his eventual syndication and established adult life in California. Readers will see his struggles to become a serialized published cartoonist, as well as his journey to solidify his style until the strip became the Peanuts series that captured the hearts of so many. Readers will also get a glimpse into Schulz’s personal life and the birth of his children, as well as his family troubles and eventual divorce. Kuki blends manga illustrations with references to Schulz’s iconic cartooning in a beautiful and enjoyable way. Reverence is paid, but Schulz is still shown in his human moments, giving reality to his challenges as well as successes.
