Booklist - 10/01/2025 In this colorful introduction to birds that live above or beside the sea, Captain Gulliver of “See-Gulls Ocean Tours,” welcomes people aboard his cruise ship and introduces them to a series of birds they can observe during the tour. From talkative gulls to pelicans, which produce an oil that protects their feathers from getting waterlogged at sea, and albatrosses, which can glide above the ocean for hours without landing, each type of bird is described in terms of qualities that make it well adapted to its seaside habitat. The most enjoyable parts of the book are the seven double-page spreads that discuss and illustrate particular species of seabirds. The incorporation of photos into the digital illustrations works unusually well in this appealing book from the See-Gulls Ocean Tours series (4 titles). - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
