Booklist - 01/01/2026 Lots of action, silly dialogue, and bodily function humor are found in Reese’s first installment in a series starring a pair of newly created bumbling amphibian superheroes. Fantastic Frog and Amazing Tad Lad find themselves in a loop of never-ending attacks by the Hater Gator, a robot trainer who knows more about the duo than they know about themselves. After the session, they meet Dr. Kim, who explains their origin story: she gave them superstrength and flight capabilities so they can battle mutant swamp dwellers overtaking the wetlands. After an intermission with Doug the Dung beetle and his fecal footwear, gross-out humor fans are in for a stinky treat as the second episode finds the froggy friends fending off vomit attacks by a slew of defective dolls sent to the landfill years ago when they wouldn't quit malfunctioning. Reese’s entertaining cartoon art in a saturated palette features striking color combinations and precise highlights and shading, perfectly accentuating a tale that ends on a cliff-hanger, smoothing the way for book number two. - Copyright 2026 Booklist.
