Booklist - 06/01/2025 When Carson, Noemi, and Eleanor convince their parents that they’re responsible enough to travel to Los Angeles alone to see Taylor Swift in concert, they embark on their first real adventure and in the process allow stranded (and handsome) photographer Dean, who’s definitely not a serial killer, because he’s their math teacher’s nephew, to tag along. This breezy outing has everything a summer read needs: three best friends, a road trip from Maine to L.A., a boy with hella good hair, and enough Taylor Swift references to fulfill your wildest dreams. Carson’s inner thoughts embody being “happy free confused and lonely at the same time.” The familiar emotions in a road-trip saga all play out; they have fun in unfamiliar locales, but the friends push one another’s buttons when stressed. While the dialogue among the girls is very enjoyable, the monologues after fights can get repetitive. A best-friends-forever fantasy with a far-fetched but “aw-inspiring” happy ending, this book is a love song to both best friends and to the pop star who gave them their personal soundtrack. - Copyright 2025 Booklist.
