School Library Journal - 03/01/2025 PreS-Gr 1—An opportunity presents itself for a fashion-forward squid when a young boy goes for a quick dive, leaving his clothes unattended. Gleefully snatching up gear to create their own stylish looks, the squid and his sea creature friends squabble over shoes, transform a tank top, and dance with pants. Chaos ensues when the boy realizes where his clothes have gone, but a quick deal is struck and more fun is had for all involved. Through the book's blend of humor and expressive illustrations, young readers will enjoy the antics of these playful ocean creatures. Short rhyming phrases contribute to the book's easy-to-follow flow, creating a catchy rhythm. Vocabulary is simple throughout and provides great opportunities to practice consonant digraphs. Though some words might need a bit of explanation, the colorful illustrations provide excellent support and create a tone for young readers that is humorous and engaging. VERDICT An excellent addition for all early reader collections.—Louie Lauer - Copyright 2025 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
