Booklist - 06/01/2026 Rostam wants nothing more than to be an Interstellar Alliance (IA) pilot: honored, respected, and, most of all, adored. IA starship pilots have the coolest job in the galaxies, traveling to the outer realms to help people in trouble, like when a deev doesn’t want to mine for iron or when a djinn escapes from their master. But Rostam has no idea that djinn or marïd or any of the powerful ancients of Earth were enslaved to their tasks with the IA. When he rides shotgun in the cockpit to his new home on Pars-1, he discovers that a Wish to another planet is more than a simple jump in space time. The ancients working their magic have had enough of human consumption, and the namesakes of the Shahnameh (like Rostam) are doomed to repeat the legend’s past until a stolen relic is returned to rest. With a captivating concept of space travel and thrilling action sequences involving ancient magic, this story is sure to please current Abtahi fans as well as those of the Percy Jackson series. - Copyright 2026 Booklist.
