Booklist - 02/01/2017 This is the successor to Mighty Truck (2016), the story of Clarence, a lowly, rickety, old pickup truck who becomes an off-road Superman. Whereas Clark Kent is transformed in a phone booth, Clarence is transformed in a truck wash. He becomes a gleaming, fin-tailed, monster truck, customized with superpowers to rescue vehicles in distress. In his newest adventure, Clarence and his cement-mixer buddy, Bruno, attend the Muddymania event in the Axleburg Arena. Flo, a water-spraying truck, has been up all night making sure the arena is as wet and gloppy as possible, falls asleep, and rolls toward the spectator stands. Clarence must figure out how to get wet while protecting his secret identity so he can save the day. Besides offering a nice take on friendship, this picture book is filled with energetic digital illustrations featuring all kinds of trucks and tons of mud—what more could truck-loving kids want? Fans of Clarence may also enjoy Stephen Savage’s Supertruck (2015), which tells another heroic account of a truck saving the day. - Copyright 2017 Booklist.

School Library Journal - 02/01/2017 PreS-Gr 2—Clarence is a superhero truck who zooms in as his alter ego, Mighty Truck, whenever there's an emergency. In fact, he's so busy, he barely has time to hang out with his best friend, Bruno. When Clarence's skills are called for yet again, to save an arena of Muddymania fans from a runaway vehicle, his secret is in peril, but his friendship remains steadfast. The dialogue here is sometimes tiresome ("I, uh, just remembered…"; "You should, like, thank Mighty Truck!") and the computer-generated images overly busy. Still, some children devour truck books, and this title will find fans among those who have graduated from Sallie Wolf and Andy Robert Davies's Truck Stuck. VERDICT Consider for insatiable truckophiles. A workable addition.—Henrietta Verma, National Information Standards Organization, Baltimore - Copyright 2017 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
