Booklist - 09/01/2021 Twins Aiden and Ada and their friend Daniel are all die-hard soccer players hoping to make it to their respective championships and get their team names on the town’s local sports trophies, which are displayed at the library. On a trip to scope out the hardware, the tweens learn that the original trophy disappeared more than 40 years ago. Intrigued, they set out to see if they can solve the cold case, questioning Aiden and Ava’s grandma, who worked at the library at the time; the former police chief, who worked on the case; and a former soccer coach, who was the only suspect. Astute mystery fans might figure out the culprit, but the final revelation shows the case to be a victimless crime, one that was done for a good reason. Bowen has written another hit entry in his Sports Story series, with engaging characters, lots of sports action, and a compelling mystery. An excellent choice for readers looking for a more modern-day Matt Christopher story. - Copyright 2021 Booklist.
