Booklist - 05/01/2019 Bailey and his father run a monster-catching business in the Bay Area, caging and selling harpies, goblins, faeries, and the like. They even keep one monster as a pet: a sweet Swiss troll named Henry. But when Bailey meets Axel Pazuzu, a dog-headed creature who wants Henry for his own, Bailey wonders if his dad lied about Henry’s origins and begins to question the practice of caging monsters. Along with sword-wielding Savannah, who possibly wants to be Bailey’s girlfriend and probably is descended from a minotaur, Bailey battles Axel and discovers the truth about Henry. The story contains action, adventure, and humorous characters—in heroes and villains alike. Although Bailey gradually realizes that not all monsters are bloodthirsty fiends who should be caged, at the end of the book he still collects and sells faeries. The questionable ethics of monster catching, while hinted at in this book, could be further explored in future installments. Still, this series starter stands out as a fast-paced, action-packed adventure with an interesting premise. - Copyright 2019 Booklist.
