Booklist - 10/15/2016 In this sequel to A Sliver of Stardust (2015), Wren is once again pressed into service for her skills even though her ability to manipulate stardust seems to have disappeared. But Boggen, the evil being who would destroy Earth, has corrupted the stardust, which now threatens other lands as well. Wren is sent on a mission with some of her colleagues, one of whom turns out to be a traitor. Steampunk creatures, the Knave of Hearts, and Mother Goose herself will all play roles in this epic battle of good versus evil, as Wren and her friends Simon and Jack land in Nod to face their fears and prepare for the fight ahead. This mix of traditional fairy tale and fantasy makes it a natural precursor to books like Everland (2016), by Wendy Spinale, Leviathan (2009), by Scott Westerfeld, and Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials books, all of which feature teens caught up in similar mythical battles. - Copyright 2016 Booklist.
