Summary:
Meet two young adventurers, as they discover the joy of finding their way using nature's clues. From worms, honeybees, and spiders to trees, flowers, and clouds, young adventurers are shown what to look and listen for wherever they are--whether in the back garden, a vast meadow, or the open sea. This is the ultimate guide on what the land, sky, plants, animals, and weather can reveal--if you only know where to look!

Booklist - 04/01/2022 This large-format book offers tips to help young wayfarers understand the natural world and what questions it can answer for those who know how to interpret the signs. Caudill regards these tips not as survival skills but as ways to reconnect with nature that were passed down through our human ancestors for millennia but have more recently been lost in many cultures. Each two-page spread presents facts related to an activity, such as observing a sunflower throughout the day, listening to the dawn chorus of songbirds, or learning to locate the North Star in the night sky and use it as a guide. A girl and a boy explore a different landscape in each scene. Created with graphite and digital tools, the detailed double-page illustrations are well composed, beautifully colored, and full of interesting details. On each spread, an introductory paragraph is extended by small text boxes beside relevant visual details, and some of the information (such as what causes the distinctive scent when rain first hits dry soil) is fascinating. An attractive guide to nature. - Copyright 2022 Booklist.
