Booklist - 03/15/2018 This volume in the Rookie Read-About Science: The Universe series (4 titles) packs a surprising amount of information despite its slim size. In clear, simple text geared toward younger readers, it breaks the complicated science of the stars and the solar system into digestible facts. Readers will learn about the different types of stars, what they’re made of, what happens when one dies, and how we observe them. They will also read about the relationship Earth has with stars, both scientifically (the sun) and culturally (the mythology behind constellations). The photo-illustrated pages look straight out of science fiction, and a cartoon astro-dog offers word definitions and explanations. An ending spread of activities will help further understanding. A fine resource for early STEM lessons, and a quality introduction to the stars. - Copyright 2018 Booklist.
