Booklist - 02/15/2022 With an eye on social skills and responsibility, the 10 Ideas series (3 titles) seeks to provide actionable advice to youngsters looking to be good humans. As the series name suggests, each book lays out 10 main points to help guide readers’ behavior and assist them in taking steps toward making a difference in the world. 10 Ideas to Overcome Racism does a nice job of discussing racist language and behavior, the importance of speaking up when witnessing a racist incident, and embracing your own culture and learning about others. The books are visually attractive, utilizing creative placement of illustrations, bullet-point lists, and fonts of varying size to help divide content. There is some confusion, however, when it comes to their intended audience, as some of the information, especially in the volume on kindness, seems geared toward a much younger age group than the reading level indicates. Nevertheless, it is an approachable series, whether read independently or with adult help. - Copyright 2022 Booklist.
