Full Text Reviews:

School Library Journal - 07/30/2021 Gr 1–3—In this magical series debut, Tally Tuttle is about to start second grade and she is very nervous. Her family moved to the area just one week ago for her mom's new job. Tally has been worried that this new place is going to work out for everyone else in her family but her. On the first day of school, the kids make fun of her real name, Tallulah. But, her classroom proves to be "a really magical place." The world suddenly shifts, and Tally transforms into a turtle just long enough to experience what life would be like hidden inside a shell. When Tally is a turtle, she makes friends with a spider named Clementine who sometimes shares Tally's shell for protection. Eventually, though, Tally decides to stop hiding from the real world and make new friends—now she just has to figure out transforming back into a girl! VERDICT This charming title will appeal to young children looking for everyday magic and practical coping strategies for life changes.—Amy Caldera, Dripping Springs M.S., TX - Copyright 2021 Publishers Weekly, Library Journal and/or School Library Journal used with permission.
